Spiegel & Grau Authors on Tour
This fall has been a busy season for the authors of Spiegel & Grau!
Author of Everything/Nothing/Someone, Alice Carriére was in conversation with the star of Sopranos and White Lotus, Michael Imperioli at McNally Jackson for a sold out event.
Spiegel & Grau co-sponsored an event with the 92Y as part of our audiobook partnership series to celebrate the first-time ever audio release of Shirley Hazzard’s classic, The Transit of Venus. Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Stacy Schiff, acclaimed novelists Roxana Robinson and Matthew Specktor, and actress Emily Mortimer had an illuminating conversation on the enduring legacy of Hazzard’s timeless masterpiece.
And author of Group Living and Other Recipes, Lola Milholland, has been on a whirlwind tour across the U.S, and recently made a few stops in beautiful Wisconsin, including at Driftless Books, Boswell Books, and Pearl Street. We’re so grateful to our bookseller friends for hosting such amazing events!
Fox Chats with Marketing Director, Jess Bonet
What line of poetry do you go back to repeatedly? Yehuda Amichai’s “Another Lit Window” is one of my favorites. I loved it so much I have a line tattooed on my arm.
Within a garden I once heard
A song or an old blessing.
And above the dark trees
an eternal window is always lit
in memory of the faces that were in it.
What are you reading now? I’m reading Miranda July’s All Fours and it’s so good—she really goes for it, no holds barred!
What is the first thing you read each day? Cryptic New York Times games clues.
Favorite TV show or movie of all time? Favorite movie is hands down Stand by Me, and favorite show is Pushing Daisies. Still waiting for a season 3 one day…!
The last exhibit you loved? I found Roy Nachum’s Mercer Labs exhibit to be really powerful. It blended art with experiential sound, lighting and room design to bring his works to life.
If you had to make your own Snapple cap, what random fact would you choose? 1 in 4 Apollo astronauts were left-handed.
Which month would you eliminate and why? March, because it’s not honest. Yes, January and February are cold but you know going into it what to expect. March pretends to be spring but it’s really winter in disguise.
What cheese would you be and why? An aged manchego. A little sheepish, a bit nutty, but overall a good time.
S&G IRL
Spiegel & Grau had a lovely time at our team offsite earlier this month. It was a beautiful late summer day with a lot of inspiring conversations about the future of the company, some amazing food (thank you, Julie Grau!) and some writing time in nature.
